Cape Town Daytrips - The Winelands

    Winelands

Guests will set off in the morning for a full day tour of the tranquil and scenic Winelands of the Cape, where you will visit the Paarl, Franschhoek and Stellenbosch wine-making areas.
Depending on your interests, the tour can be focused on food and wine, breathtaking nature or historical architecture etc.

We prefer to take our guests to the smaller, hidden wine estates - but this again depends on the their taste and interest. 2 wine tastings are included and lunch will be taken under the oak trees of one of the many wonderful eateries in the winelands. Return to the hotel in the late afternoon.

    Paarl
The first stop will be Paarl. This quaint town grew from 1690 and is five years older than Stellenbosch. The town was named after the huge granite dome of rock, which overlooks the town.

    Stellenbosch
Stellenbosch is one of the most beautiful and heritage-conscious towns in Southern Africa. Entering the town via historic Dorp Street is like stepping into the pages of a history book.

As a premier tourist destination the name Stellenbosch conjures up images as very few other South African towns or cities can. History is reflected in many of its buildings and rows of oaks transform the streets into soft shady tunnels. Stellenbosch is synonymous with the oldest Wine Route in the country, which draws wine lovers and tourists from around the world.

    Franschhoek
Franschhoek is a small rural village situated only 80km from central Cape Town, in the heart of the Cape Winelands. The village is among the top five tourist destinations in South Africa. Franschhoek lies in a green valley surrounded by majestic mountains - like a little Switzerland.

For the food and wine connoisseur there are approximately 26 local restaurants, 20 wine estates and 350 beds in guesthouses and hotels. Franschhoek architectural styles date back to the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries and include many Cape Dutch, Cape Cottage and Victorian style homes. No visit to this village is complete without a walk down the main road and a visit to the local Huguenot Museum.
