Garonga is an exclusive 14-bed safari camp situated west of Kruger National Park in South Africa's Northern Province.

Garonga is a sanctuary - an organic flowing space that spreads harmony around it. Earthen columns reflect the crumbling spires of termite mounds, rough plastered walls echo the sand.

Many guests come to find inspiration in nature, tracking wildlife in the pre-dawn and the moonlight, learning the names of trees, the habits of 350 birds. Others simply to anchor themselves to the earth, empty their minds, eat, sleep deeply, and unwind in the aromatherapy sala.

There are six magnificent tented-roofed rooms and one suite set among ebony trees on the banks of a dry riverbed commanding unbelievable views. Each room has its own platform deck with a hammock, and its full en-suite with indoor and outdoor shower, while watching an elephant trample a couple of trees - showering will never be as good again

Garonga offers something very different, an alternative, more intimate and reflective bush experience, a more holistic re-earthing with nature’s bounty - a symbiotic nourishing of sight, body and soul.

Acitivities include game drives, wilderness walks, outdoor bush baths, sleep-outs, aromatherapy and reflexology sessions are available, but many choose to lie in their hammocks watching the grazing game in the river bed below.

Time at Garonga is not an issue, there are no set schedules, and certainly no pressure to participate in drives or walks. Flexibility is the buzzword - and guests are never made to feel uncomfortable if they decide rather to sleep in, or break away from the main party. And when the urge to be pampered beckons, visit the open-air sala for a relaxing aromatherapy, reflexology session or Japanese reiki - a hands-on channelling of universal energies to clear blocked energy flows.
